Hospital Management

Hospital Management is relatively a new phenomenon in the field of management education. The changing times require a specialist in every field for every position. Rising expenditure on healthcare has seen coming up of many new hospitals and treatment centers. Most of them are specialty hospitals catering to specific needs of the patients. Different classes of hospitals are normal hospitals, specialty hospitals and super specialty hospitals. But in order to run smoothly, these specialized healthcare centers require qualified professionals.

Many institutes in India offer various courses in hospital administration. Large number of students are opting for these courses because of its twin benefits of handsome pay package and offering public healthcare services. Few medical colleges offer MD courses in hospital administration. Several diploma and certificate courses are available in hospital management. Apart from these reputed colleges, few others have also started two year MBA programs in hospital management. Institutes like Madurai Kamraj and others are credited to start these courses which are fast gaining in popularity. Medical Council of India is also pitching in with praiseworthy efforts to improve the course contents.

Other noticeable courses are distance learning courses, especially from The Indian Society of Health Administrators (ISHA) and Tamilnadu Open University.

Many top notch institutes like Symbiosis Center of Healthcare, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; The Apollo Hospitals; Armed Forces Medical College, Pune; Tata Institute of Social Science etc provide wonderful job opportunities to the students. Once the course is completed, passing candidates can join as Assistant Hospital Administrator or in finance department in major healthcare institutes, nursing homes and other hospitals.
